Patently Silly

The US Patent Office is a heinously inefficient bureaucracy that is overworked, underpaid and, in many cases, underinformed. They’re figuratively swamped with numerous idiotic patent requests as well as legitimate ones.
Patently Silly takes the opportunity offered by this situation and runs with it. Take a stroll through the archives and gaze in wonder at artifacts such as the illuminated soap bar with sound, telescopic putter mounted to headband, or the fabulous quick-draw cellphone.
Some of the inventions are mildly NSFW (Not Safe For Work), but each and every patent linked to gives me a nice “Hey, I’m practically normal compared to the people coming up with this stuff!” reaction.
