“Never Underestimate The Bandwidth Of…”

From the posted-even-though-no-one-but-me-will-get-a-kick-out-of-it dept.
I know that we systems administrators tend to be a bit of an odd lot, but there’s been a quote that has floated around sysadmin circles for years. There are quite a few variations, but the most commonly repeated one that I’ve heard used is “Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes going 65mph down the highway”, which basically translates to “Uploads going too slowly? Throw the information on some media and hotfoot it over to the customer’s site”.
Well, some sysadmins have apparently taken it upon themselves to update the metaphor for cargo planes, robot tape silos and ethernet.
