Old Europe == PFJ

Monty Python fans, rejoice! For your vast store of MP quotes is now applicable in a very real, and legally binding sense.

Monty Python fans should love this one. Gerard Baker, in a piece in the Times (UK) Online, co-opts one of the best scenes from The Life of Brian to make a wonderful point about the residents of Old Europe.
You remember the scene – Loretta, Reg, and the rest of the People’s Front of Judea (“Splitters!”) are meeting in their secret headquarters attempting to arouse popular discontent with the Roman occupation.
To wit:

“All right, all right. But apart from liberating 50 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan, undermining dictatorships throughout the Arab world, spreading freedom and self-determination in the broader Middle East and moving the Palestinians and the Israelis towards a real chance of ending their centuries-long war, what have the Americans ever done for us?”

Heh.
