By way of Engadget, we find out that EarthLink has been selected to provide the WiFi network for the city of Philadelphia. It’s nice to finally see a vendor being selected, but even nicer is the fact that the cost of the entire project is going to be borne by EarthLink itself. This means no bond issue or additional taxes on the part of Philadelphia will be necessary.
Here’s to hoping that this makes those monopolistic sons of motherless goats at Comcast very, very nervous.
