When Existing Words Just Won’t Suffice

Battre un Cheval Mort!
The news media’s behavior in regards to Anna Nicole Smith’s death and the ensuing court battles has been nothing short of disgusting in my opinion. CNN Headline News, for instance, covers the hearings from open to close each day, breaking only occasionally to run commercials and shots of Britney Spears’ shaved noggin, while Fox News fares hardly better. It’s unseemly, it’s barbaric and it borders on a near stalker/sexual obsession with a dead woman. Thus, I feel that current words to express the depths to which the media have sunk are insufficient, yet I struggle to find the right word or combination of words to best describe the flogging of a dead woman’s corpse. The closest I’ve come has been “necromediaphilia“, although I think it’s a bit too long and slightly misses the point.
So, dear readers, I ask you: what term[s] would you use to describe the abhorrent display of corpse manipulation currently on display? For bonus points, how about naming the behavior of Smith’s mother, lover[s] and lawyers?
