Sadly, this escaped my notice until too late: Tartan Day was this past Tuesday. What is “Tartan Day”? It’s a day intended to celebrate the contributions those of Scottish descent have made to civilization in North America. It’s observed on the 6th of April in commemoration of the Declaration of Arbroath, which in 1320 declared Scottish independence from England and is generally viewed as one of the intellectual forebears of our Declaration of Independence.
So remember salute your Scottish friends, neighbors, relatives and anscestors. And, for those in need of a Scotch history refresher, I’ll toss out a link to a helpful primer. Heh.
