It’s official. After taking quite a bit of flak over their choice of names, the group formerly known as Pajamas Media, then OSM™ (Open Source Media) has reverted to Pajamas Media once again.
I think this is a net positive. How better to demonstrate the flexibility of the blog medium than by instituting a quick turnaround on such a major issue?
There was criticism aplenty to go around and, while some of it went a bit off-color *cough*AnnAlthouse*cough*, most of the criticism was level-headed and fair, including Eric S. Raymond’s take on the issue, where he ascribed an Intelligence Community (as opposed to Free Software) meaning to “Open Source Media”. I do actually think that was more along the lines of what the PJ/OSM people meant by “Open Source” – all of their sources were open and public. It’s just a shame that they never took the time to point this out.
Oh well. Water under the bridge, and all that. Now where’s my endorsement deal?
