Worst. Road. Ever.

My wife and I had dinner at some friends’ house tonight. They’re good friends of ours, but unfortunately they live in West Conshohocken, so we don’t get to see them as often as we’d like. Now, as the crow flies, W. Conshohocken isn’t very far away at all – perhaps 6 or 7 miles at the most. However, in between our respective houses lies the single biggest impediment to timely travel in the Philadelphia metro area: the Schuylkill Expressway.
What idiot designed that road? What half-wit carved the space out for a road between treacherously high cliffs and a river gulley? Further, what moron decided to make that road the major arterial route between points West and Center City a full four lanes wide, then decided to hem the whole thing in with Jersey Barriers so close to the lanes themselves as to give experienced submariners a severe case of claustrophobic heebie jeebies? Which numbskulls decided that every bleedin’ road of any appreciable size/Interstate designation in the Philly area simply must dump onto the Schuylkill at some point?
If ever there were a case to be made for burning city planners at the stake, I’d say the “Sure-kill” would be Exhibit A at the trial.

Oh sure…brag on about how you have a spleen and it can vent. Meanwhile those of us without spleens will just opine with our appendices.
