Much virtual ink has been spilled over Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s request to visit the site of the World Trade Center during his visit to NYC, though I haven’t seen anyone suggest the following:
- Ahmadinejad believes in the Hidden 12th Imam whose reemergence will bring about the end of this current world order and the reemergence of the Islamic caliphate.
- The Big A. believes that the martyring of the entire Iranian people, pursuant to nuking Israel, is an acceptable trade-off to bring about the Mahdi’s return.
- Given #2, might Ahmadinejad’s assassination also bring about the regional chaos necessary to wipe Israel out/give Iran the casus belli to nuke Israel?
I’m just saying, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Mad Mahmoud might be looking to ignite a wider conflict by sacrificing his own person on the alter of the WTC. Given his past crazy behavior, I wouldn’t put it past him.

I think you may have waded into the excessive tinfoil aisle at the market.
Keep in mind that the Big A is full, FULL, like 5 lbs in a 3 lb bag full, of rhetoric. These type of people rarely are willing to actually DO themselves what they implore others to do.
That, and no one thinks Iran has anything yet, whereas the WTC visit (ok, now Columbia) occurs shortly.
I do find it quite comical that they (Iran) is bragging about their airforce. As if Israel woulf let them get close, let alone the U.S allowing flight over or anywhere near Irari airspace…
I truly think we are not trying to start a fight with Iran the way we did with Saddam. That said, we will gladly take any opportunity to capitalize on their idiocy and send them a not-so-subtle lessen about bringing a knife to a gun fight…
