I heard an NPR spot for FX’s new show “Over There” which supposedly depicts life on the ground during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Initially, I wondered if it would be worth downloadingwatching. Thankfully, some real soldiers have done the watching and wondering for me and are fairly unanimous: don’t bother.
The Indepundit calls it total crap; It’s pretty bad, according to Jonah’s Two Military Guys (+1); Blackfive took a Guiness for the team in lieu of watching; real soldiers tell the Seattle Post-Intelligencer it’s bogus; Cdr Salamander says it posesses spotty writing and wasted talent.
Glad I’m not missing anything. I’ll stick to my Battlestar Galactica, where the fake military at least has an excuse for acting in a non-realistic fashion.
