I definitely think that the Jeopardy skits with ‘Sean Connery’, ‘Alex Trebeck’, and ‘Burt Reynolds’ were some of the best SNL skits of all-time…..or at least the ’90’s……….
They’re definitely up there in terms of recurring sketches, although there are many one-off sketches that rank higher in my estimation – Chris Farley as a Chippendale’s dancer, Ferrell/Walken in “More Cowbell”, “I drive a Dodge Stratus!”, etc.
In terms of series of skits, I’d have to say that Phil Hartman’s “Caveman Lawyer”, Kevin Nealon’s “Subliminial Man”, Adam Sandler’s “Opera Man” and “The Chris Farley Show” have to be some of the best that the ’90’s produced.
Of course, in the mid-to-late ’90’s, Mad TV was eating SNL‘s metaphorical lunch, at least as long as the original cast remained in place.
